No, none of those guys are me. Although it’s great that guys take off their clothes for photo shoots I strongly recommend wearing clothing & eye protection while actually working with a chainsaw. My 2025-26 lumberjack season is now winding down, it runs from November to April. I’m not a logger and don’t do massive deforestation or use huge machines to transport logs. The type of work I do falls under “forest management” and arboreal landscaping. I cull out dead/diseased/dying trees, clean up blowdowns, open fields back up or expand them, cut trees away from houses or out of views of the ocean, etc. Any wood that I (or, actually, “we” since I work with an assistant) cut that is accessible to a road or driveway we stack up for the home/property owner or we load up into a truck and deliver to elderly residents. The island where I live is typically quite wet and vegetation immediately grows in to cut areas. I’ve never caused any erosion. The threat of forest fires is very real on this island that is 90% forest and I hope my work will help save some homes (million dollar plus vacation homes mostly as well as several dozen year-round homes) from destruction if we were to ever have a fire.
