Shirley Temple Black, as an older woman

shirley_temple-today_thumbSad to hear that Shirley Temple Black died today. Guess the Good Ship Lollipop has sailed off into eternity now.

But, on a lighter note, there are still a bunch of actresses from the 1930s/1940s/1950s that are still alive: Olivia deHaviland, Lauren/Betty Bacall, Kim Novak, Doris Day, Tipi Hedren, Debbie Reynolds, Anne Blythe, and everyone’s favourite B-Star: Joan Collins. If you know of any other stars from back then that are still alive leave me a note.

  1. Carla Laemmle and Lupita Tovar are both over 100. I met Carla–she was Universal head Carl Laemmle’s niece, and spoke the first line in Bela Lugosi’s “Dracula.” She was also a ballet dancer in “The Phantom of the Opera”, from 1925. Lupita was in the Spanish language version of “Dracula,” and starred in Mexico’s first sound film.
