  1. “Madam Satan” is beyond amazing. The first half is a rather dull marriage drama-how can she get her husband’s love back? The second half? She rents a dirigible and throws a huge party where women dress as lightning bolts and masses of bubbles, and appears as the mysterious Madam Satan. Of course there is a huge storm and the dirigible crashes, but not before everyone jumps out in parachutes, landing in the lake in Central Park or in a Turkish bathhouse. It is the most drastically bifurcated film you can imagine. The first half is like a D.W. Griffith soaper. The second half is very futuristic and Art Deco and silly. And Lillian Roth “I’ll Cry Tomorrow” stars! And Cecil B. De Mille directs a cast of hundreds! A real must see–and you still may not believe it.

    • Thanks for the review and synopsis! I’ve not seen the movie but it sounds like another over-the-top Cecil B. DeMille extravaganza.
