One of the things I miss most about living in Montreal are the bakeries. I frequented a Belgian patissierie downtown and as well as an Eastern European bakery with zero pretension and the most incredible breads and delicious sweets on St. Laurent – but only after exhaustively trying out many inferior places. Pain au Chocolat gave me the sustenance to survive the brutal winters.
