
Marlon got an Oscar for this performance, the movie got Best Picture, and Elia Kazan got Best Director. No offense to Mr. Kazan, but I think Best Director that year (1955) should’ve gone to Alfred Hitchcock for “Rear Window”.
They were married for 4 years (1949-53), and it didn’t work out so well. Although it started out as a classic romance based on her gaining nobility and him gaining money I think I recall that he basically bankrupted her and turned out to already be married or something. Not sure if she was still “doing” Glenn Ford on the side while married to the prince.
