The reason I went down to NYC was to visit with my brother’s closest friend, Nora, and to see her show that she is doing for a limited run about their friendship and their experiences in the wild nightlife scene of NYC in the 1980s with drugs, disco, and sex being consumed in great quantities. And, ultimately, about AIDS and the spirits that live on. It was a great show! I didn’t know how I was going to react to it all, emotionally, but the show was way more “a celebration of life” than a tearjerker memorial to times past and people gone forever. Nora is such a brilliant and vivacious comedienne. I’m not a theatre critic so I’ll just leave it at that it was brilliant. My brother would have loved being a star again almost 24 years after his death. He sure loved and knew how to work the spotlight!

At the bottom of the latter review there is a very shadowy, blurry picture of me (bottom left, mustache, black hat) crouching in front of Kenneth, Nora, and Damian (who wrote the Daily Beast review). As a special bonus I also got to meet one of my blogging “idols”, Ken of Kenneth in the 212, at the show’s opening after-party. Had a great conversation with him and his boyfriend over several beers (which I hadn’t drank in years, but when in Rome…). I’ve been following his blog off and on for years!
