Every year (1950s-early 1960s) there was Parade Day with us grammar school kids marching to the park in the late June heat. We wore beanies in a different color for each school. The outdoor pool with artificial waves and the roller coaster were the big attractions. The area was eventually redeveloped for luxury hi-rise apartments.
