100 years ago today the Russian Royal family was murdered by the Bolsheviks

I am not romanticizing the Romanoff dynasty. They persecuted (killed, jailed, stole from and/or turned a blind eye to their loyalists doing the same) millions of minorities (Jews, Tartars, etc.) and those who opposed their undemocratic rule. But I still think it was awful that they were all murdered. Stripping them of their power and money would’ve sufficed. Jailing them, exiling, or making Nicholas II work as Lenin’s stable boy would’ve been fine but, instead, the Bolsheviks/Communists will always have their blood on their hands.
