Talk about sibling rivalry! I read that they were both fairly new immigrants to the US but had settled in different parts of the East Coast, finding themselves on opposing sides of the Civil War when it broke out.
The picture is actually George Custer and his brother. His brother was not in the confederate army but rather serve as an officer in the union army but the end of the war. He received two Medals of Honor in the Civil War!
