NYC is great fun to visit, and I have visited many, many times over the years. But I have never had a desire to live there. The frantic energy, noise, lights, & lack of nature is not the lifestyle I’d want to live every day.
For us teenage bridge and tunnel crew from NJ, Manhattan was the place to be, despite the crime and neglect of the city in the 1960s. You had to learn fast to be careful and/or lucky to get home safe.
I’ve been to NYC many times in my life over the decades and even back in the 1980s I never felt unsafe there – but, then again, I was only in mid-town and lower Manhattan. Only place I’ve ever really had fear of danger in the US was in Philadelphia.
Pretty photos but unless my apartment fronted Central Park, there is no way I’d want to live in NYC. Give me a garden with trees and grass.
