This photo must have been taken facing east, as the moon rises in the east. The band of pink light is actually a reflection of the sun setting behind the photographer in the west. This pink light seen in the east at sunset is called “The Belt of Venus”. I see it often as the view from my house is east over the Atlantic. Not as pretty as a sunset, but a serene way to end the day.
