HAPPY UKRAINIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY! Let’s hope that the NATO allies slap the sanctions on Russia and provide the arms and ammo to defeat the aggressor Russian scum. I don’t think Ukraine should be forced to permanently give up any territory. Otherwise you just open the floodgates of nations seizing other nations’ territories and then saying they’ll stop there if you let them keep the conquered territory. If Russia started indiscriminately bombing civilians in France, Germany, or the US would you offer up a chunk of your nation to make Russia stop? Of course not. Asking Ukraine to do the same is idiotic. Russia must be driven back, they have no claim to Ukrainian territory.

Except for hunting rifles (and I’m not a hunter so I don’t own any rifles), I’m not a gun advocate. However, that said, I know from personal experience that there are some times when a gun for personal protection is needed. Decades ago I briefly dated a guy who turned out to have some severe mental health issues. After I broke it off with him he stalked me for months which ended up with him shooting at my house, shooting at me when I was out walking my dogs, and kidnapping & torturing one of my dogs. I bought a gun for my own protection but then gave it away to a friend once the stalker was hustled off to a mental institution and was not allowed to move back to the town I live in as a condition of his release.
