Got this picture over on Mamie’s Facebook page – she shares lots of photos from old Hollywood, recent pix of her (still going strong at 86!), and a lot of progressive political opinions and links. The magazine’s caption on this photo is, of course, ridiculous as we all know that a) Rock certainly was gay and b) gay men can go out to dinner with beautiful women and it not have anything to do with sex. In her posting a little bit of the background of this picture from the 1950s was described- Mamie and Rock were photographed entering a Hollywood restaurant where they were meeting none other than Joan Crawford and her date for dinner. Joan apparently got a little drunk and at one point started pointing out some of the young starlets also in the restaurant and dissing them… “Fucking starlets”. I would’ve loved to have been a fifth wheel on that double date!
