Chateau de Chillon, Suisse

chateau de chillonWhen I was a kid I lived in (Geneva) Swizerland for a couple of years and my family visited this castle, located at the other end of Lac Leman, on several occasions. It’s in remarkable shape for such an ancient building and has incredible views of the Swiss and French Alps. I also went to visit the castle with a couple of friends when we were teenagers. We had gotten there late and inadvertently stayed after closing time. We were exploring the dungeon when we were locked in by a guard who had no idea any tourists were still left in there. I think it was my loudly crying out “But I’m too pretty to be in prison” that got someone’s attention and we were let out.

Connecting the world by train

train worldAll you would need is some track through Alaska/Yukon, a tunnel under the Bering Strait, and more track in Siberia – and voila, you could connect three continents by train. That would be one long ass haul from New York to Paris by train via Siberia but it might be possible one day.
