Open for business
Illustration by F.A. Leyendecker – one of many advertisements he drew during his career using his boyfriend as the model
Interesting article by John Webster in Fab Magazine recently about F.A. Leyendecker, a prolific advertising illustrator especially in the 1910’s – 1930’s. Being an out gay man during the first half of the 20th century and having a multi-decade relationship with one man both being unique qualities for the time.

Bat, trying very hard to look like a rat with wings
Design by John Webster
John is a graphic artist in the Toronto area. This would make a great tattoo design. Not that I’m into tats or would ever get one, but it would be cool. John has a most excellent website under his nom-de-net “Sissydude” but I won’t (directly) link to it here because he does post some nude pix along with lots of interesting articles, pictures, illustrations, and assorted images. The occasional nudity doesn’t bother me (um, no one has ever accused me of being a prude) but my blog/site isn’t about porn or being a portal to any site with porn.
