Totally bummed about that guy killing 20 kids in Connecticut/USA. If anything good can come of this (?) I hope these 20 angels help inspire Americans to examine the need for better mental health care services, more school safety measures, and the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. I’m no constitutional scholar but I tend to believe that the intention of the 2nd amendment has to be put in context of the historical times it was written in – meaning that it allowed citizens to have guns for protection against intruders (things were pretty lawless back then), government tyranny, and killing them uppity injuns (!) who were getting all pissy because we were shooting them and taking their land. It was not meant to allow everyone to have guns so they could terrorize and kill others. And they certainly did not have semi automatic /assault weapons back then. I know that there are no simple solutions and banning things doesn’t work (examples include alcohol, marijuana, and even guns – Canada’s much stricter gun laws did not prevent the Universite de Montreal massacre) but something’s gotta give here.
