  1. Yup, it’s Paulette Goddard. Trying to find that fine line between what you know easily and what you’ll never guess… OK, change the photo caption and move on. Another chance coming soon.

    • This is fun because the photo may be of someone you know very well, but from a different angle or with new hair and makeup. Lighting influences the shot immensely. And of course, stars change over time. 1926 Joan looks different from 1932 and 1945 and 1963 Joan. So even a photo of a well-known star can sometimes be tough to identify, like your recent Bette that looks like Silvia Sydney to me.

      I’m really enjoying this Matthew. I’m looking forward to more movie buffs joining in.

      • Still not 100% sure that really was Bette not Sylvia. Looked at pix of both to try to tell but Bette had so many looks in the 30’s. Chin looks like Sylvia though. Dunno. Will post more soon!
