Oh, this is heaven. Joan plays 18 and chops off her lousy cheatin’ husband’s head with an ax… If you had told her in the 30’s what the 60’s would bring, she would probably think “Maybe I’ll leave Hollywood bake pies instead.” But I really like this one, and of course “Baby Jane” is a masterpiece. “Trog” on the other hand is heavy going.
Joan’s later movies were horrid in my opinion, except the brilliant “Baby Jane”. It was partially her but I think Hollywood treated it’s aging stars of yesteryear really poorly back then and relegated them to crappy movies, if they got any work at all, when they were past prime age. Some retired rather than face the indignity of being stuck in schlock. Even Joan did call it quits after a while.
