    • I haven;t seen it a LONG time, but I know I was blown away with it at the time. Definitely have to see it again. The lower image looks like a more recent poster maybe for one of many revivals of the film? A classic for sure.

  1. Yes, the last one is def more recent. You know that they finally discovered 99% of the missing footage a few years back and that there are now completely new story lines, especially with a character played by Fritz Rasp, who is reptilian and wonderful. There are a couple of shots of people moving up and down in open fronted elevators (not the workers-these are small elevators for one or two people) that is killer.

  2. Yeperooni, and it is faboo. There was about 20 minutes missing, and it is now all there except something like 90 seconds. A complete copy had been sent to Argentina on the film’s release and subsequently lost. The condition is noticeably lesser, but it is a treasure. Look for “The Complete Metropolis.” Another interesting version is the Moroder edition, from about 1986, which is colorized and has rock music added. A completely different experience. Speaking of treasures, I have German Ross Verlag postcards from the era, of Brigitte Helm and Rudolf Klein-Rogge, the robot-woman and the mad scientist Rotwang (my ab fave mad scientist name!), both signed in the 1920’s by the stars.
