    • Thanks for looking that up, I didn’t know what they were called either. Glad you are enjoying my random posts. I actually kind of look like the guy in the top/colour picture, though I’m more of a darker/dirty blond and I’m not into wearing military clothes (!).

  1. Please correct: the helmets are called Pickelhaube (sing) Pickelhauben (pl) worn by the Prussian army starting 1842 and then the German Imperial army until 1916 when they were replaced by Stahlhelme (steel helmets). Ceremonial variants can still be seen, though not in Germany for obvious reasons.
