He’s Isambard Kingdom Brunel, pictured in 1857 by the launching chains of the SS Great Eastern. Brunel was an English mechanical and civil engineer who’s considered one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history. But not a snappy dresser, apparently.
Thanks for the identification – not really up on the greatest engineers of world history so never would’ve guessed. I though he looked a little more roguish or thuggish actually.
