One of my few Christmas traditions is to watch this movie every year

Watched it last night, on Christmas eve. Though not exclusively a Christmas movie the climatic scene in the movie is at Christmas and for that reason I always associate the two. Plus Judy’s bittersweet rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in that scene haunts my Christmas spirit in a melancholy way with a faint soup├žon of hope. The movie was filmed in 1943-44, a time when WWII had been going on for years and it was not yet clear who would win. But even when things are dire, one never gives up hope. And aint that something like Christmas spirit?
