The comet is low in the northwest sky and I live on the east side of the island – so I went over to the other side of the island a few nights ago to see it. A friend took the picture. Turns out you can see it from my back yard, I saw it last night not many steps behind my house. In this picture the bright lights are from the mainland town where the ferry to my island leaves from. There is a big, uninhabited island in between so you have to go around that. The mainland looks closer than it really is because of the telescopic lens he used – those lights are 7 miles/11.5 kms away.
