Thanks Matthew–you know I am a huge Lugosi fan. I’ve met his son several times at movie conventions.
Here’s a fun quiz for you and your readers. Bela appeared in films or on TV with all of these stars but one. With whom did Mr. Lugosi NOT appear?
Boris Karloff
Ed Wood
Rose Marie from the Dick Van Dyke Show
Abbott and Costello
Greta Garbo
Ethel Waters
W.C. Fields
George Burns and Gracie Allen
Shirley Temple
Myrna Loy
Red Skelton
Basil Rathbone
Joe E. Brown
Betty Boop
Yes, I do know you are a big Lugosi fan… which is why I posted some images of him. I aim to please!
However, I’ve admitted several times my area of knowledge, such as it is, is more about the late ’30s to early ’50s. I don;t know the answer to the question. But I’ll make a guess: Ethel.
He was with Ethel in “The Gift of Gab” (1934). I’m always amazed at the folks he worked with. Fields? Garbo? Ann Marie? Incredible.
The only star he never worked with from this list is Shirley Temple. He would have made a great heavy in one of her films. Or how about ‘Grandfather’ in “Heidi”?

Lugosi and Temple – now that’s a scary combo!
