There’s actually a bunch missing:
circa 1930 – Norma Shearer (the ghost of Joan Crawford probably erased any record of Norma’s oscar!). 1951 & 1952 Judy Holliday for “Born Yesterday” and Vivien Leigh’s 2nd for “Streetcar Named Desire” and everyone between 2002 – 2010 (I may have forgot to download that piece of this post though).
I can understand not attending the ceremony when nominated if your like in the middle of filming a movie on the other side of the world or ill and it’s not worth it to go on the 1 in 5 chance of winning. But FOUR TIMES??? Jesus, Katharine! Makes Joan Crawford’s 1945-6 melodrama seem like small peanuts. Maybe Katharine was pissed at the Academy because she was nominated so many times earlier in her career and never won? Or maybe it runs in her family. I know her great-nephew, he lives on this island, and he’s really, really lazy.
