  1. Ned Kelly was an infamous Australian bush ranger, caught after a shoot-out. He and his gang wore home-made armour, of which Ned’s helmet is a well-known image in Oz. He was hung at Melbourne gaol in 1880. There are all sorts of legends built up around him, but his story is pretty fascinating even without them!

    • I guess I should have said he was an outlaw, not a cowboy. I’m vaguely familiar with him but you know most North Americans know little about Australia besides what we’ve seen on TV nature shows.
